Overview
Cherry Orchard is registered to provide nursing care for up to 40 people. It is a single storey purpose built building; comprising of 3 separate units within the home giving individuality to each area with separate adapted facilities. All units specialise in providing care and support to individuals living with dementia enabling them to live well and we support other mental health conditions and provide palliative care.
Cherry Orchard is set in an attractive, leafy residential close-knit community area of Dagenham in Essex. Many of our staff and residents are local to the area giving the home a wonderful sense of friendliness and familiarity.
Our home has a welcoming and homely atmosphere and the design of the building offers security yet a sense of freedom. Different themed wooden buildings make up the character of our generous outside space. Consisting of a tea shop, a small orchard in the garden, a summery beach hut and a sweet shop, there are plenty of areas to explore. Every aspect of the home is designed to enable you or your loved one to enjoy meaningful and fulfilling experiences.
The team takes an individual approach to care, building long term relationships whilst respecting the privacy, dignity and the choices of our residents at all times.
Visits from friends and family members are easily organised as we offer a flexible approach to visiting times and we can also accommodate overnight visits where possible.
Meet the Manager
Pep Ezeabasili
I have been a registered nurse for 30 years, with 10 of those years spent in managerial roles across a variety of healthcare settings. While I have enjoyed working in different areas, my passion lies in providing exceptional care for older adults. Currently, I am proud to lead a highly dedicated team at Cherry Orchard Care Home. Together, we share a commitment to delivering person-centred care that truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents. As a manager, I strive to lead by example, demonstrating empathy, transparency, and proactive communication. I believe in inspiring and empowering my colleagues to reach their full potential and achieve career progression. It is immensely rewarding to know that my work positively impacts the lives of not only the residents but also their families and our staff. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, spending quality time with my family and close friends, and travelling to explore new places and cultures.

Daily Life
We encourage our residents to keep active and as independent as possible by doing activities that are meaningful to them.
The team at Cherry Orchard design an activity programme that is tailored to residents’ individual interests and wishes. It is important that activities stimulate and offer reminiscence opportunities to support people with memory loss and engage in activities that can support them to recall memories but also to feel part of something, build friendships and enjoy life. We also provide one to one activities to our residents and ensure our activities are inclusive to all.
Our most popular activities are; music therapy, specially themed evenings, and visits from professional entertainers. Our home has a relaxing conservatory for that afternoon of relaxation or a music room for a more upbeat vibe.
Our comfortable lounges have witnessed countless new friendships forged, wonderful life long memories shared and new joys discovered. Many of our residents are quite independent, and love getting out and about.
Dagenham being a historical car production town, it only seems appropriate to have an old car in the garden that residents can enjoy.
A favourite of our residents is that magical time of the year when our local school children visit the home, bringing with them, Christmas spirit and a fantastic atmosphere with Christmas carols and a performance of their annual nativity play.
Our talented chef prepares fresh food every day on the premises, keeping the food exciting and varied, we have seasonal menus and have world food days. We understand and cater for dietary requirements as well as likes and dislikes.
The importance of culture & faith is fully recognised here at Cherry Orchard; therefore, strong links with local faith groups and places of worship have been developed, with regular visits organised.
